The league had it's meeting last night (April 18) and here is a summary of important events. 1 - The schedule for 2011 will used and adjusted for use for the 2012 season with the following exceptions (so far)
2 - Permits will be posted in the "Forms and Files" section of the site ... please download and keep in your sports bag in case it is needed at the field. 3 - Stanley park Dog park is now covered under a new safety rule. Any fly balls into the dog walk area will be considered an OUT. If the ball goes into the Dog Walk area by any other means it is considered a ground rule double. 4 - A suggestion was made that score keepers and base couches do not do both functions at the same time. Some teams may or may not be able to follow this suggestions with consistency, but it is probably a good idea to try and follow this suggestions as much as possible, so let's all try and teach as many people as possible how to keep a score sheet, and/or couch & umpire the bases.
With one more week to go, looks like all playoff spots have been settled. The four play off spots are as follows: 1 - Toronto Life
Congratulations to all the teams, and good luck in to everyone in the playoffs. If possible, can Toronto Life send in their pick for home park in the first round of the play offs? Then Opera can pick their home park from the remaining fields. First round of playoff are: Toronto Life at home against Badgers.
Bain and Titan members, if you are interested, the playoff teams would appreciate if some of you could show up to umpire the play off games. Send an email to me (david.landry@gmail.com) if you are interested in being a ply off umpire. Thanks
It's spring time again, and the 2011 Toronto Arts League season starts. The first Exhibition games will take place on May 4th 2001, and will be between the same teams in the same parks as the first official game scheduled for May 11th, 2011. This means the exhibition games are as follows:
The following week, May 11th, the season starts with the same teams in the same parks. Special note for Stanley Park - it may not be finished construction so you may have to make some impromptu ground rules to work around a short left field and some obstructions in centre field. You can check in the "Forms & Files" section (see menu bar on the left) to download this years schedule in PDF format, along with the 2011 TAL rules, and Captains contact list. Good luck everyone, and have a fun season.
Congratulations to Toronto Life. The 2010 Toronto Arts League Champions. An exiting game that saw Toronto Life down 1 run in the bottom of the 7th, come back for a 19 to 18 win over the Remnants. Another great year in the history of the Toronto arts league. Congratulations to all TAL teams for making this year one of the most unpredictable and exciting in the leagues history. Hope to see everyone back for the 2011 season. Various icons used from the Silk Icons library. |
