Just in case there were any questions concerning the board standing vs our official standings - At this point the board and official standing match.

OFFICIAL STANDINGS
-----------------------------------------------------------

Team ----------Wins----ties----Played-----Standing Average
Toronto Life----10------0--------12-----------0.83
Remnants--------8-------0--------12-----------0.67
Opera-----------7-------0--------13-----------0.54
Bain------------5-------0--------12-----------0.42
Titans----------4-------0--------13-----------0.31
Badgers---------3-------0--------12-----------0.25

Last week seems to have answered all the questions. Both Opera and Titans can catch the team ahead in terms of wins, but because of the difference in games played, the winning percentage will still favour both Remnants and Bain.

So the following teams will make the playoffs

Toronto Life (home) vs Bain (away)

Remnants (home) vs Opera (away)

Badgers and Titan players are encouraged to volunteer for umpires for these games. Anyone wishing to volunteer please send an email to dlandry@ca.ibm.com, We will get back to you as to which field and teams you will be umping.

Thanks

Just in case there were any questions concerning the board standing vs our official standings - At this point the board and official standing match.

OFFICIAL STANDINGS
-----------------------------------------------------------

Team ----------Wins----ties----Played-----Standing Average
Toronto Life----9-------0--------11-----------0.82
Remnants--------8-------0--------11-----------0.73
Opera-----------6-------0--------12-----------0.50
Bain------------4-------0--------11-----------0.36
Titans----------4-------0--------12-----------0.33
Badgers---------3-------0--------11-----------0.27

Note: Looks like the last two games of the season are going to be very important and interesting.

Top spot is still open between Toronto Life and Remnants, with those teams going head to head next week, the winner taking over first place. Toronto Life can clinch 1st with a win. A Remnants win will move them to first place (due to tie breakers, head to head wins) but will need either a win or a Toronto life loss in the last game of the season to hold on to first.

On the other hand, if the Remnants lose their last two games and Opera wins theirs, then Opera will take over 2nd place (tie breaker, wins in head to head action.)
update: I was wrong about Opera, they cannot come in 2nd as Remnants have beat them in head to head wins.

The last playoff spot is also still open, and as far as I can tell there is a three way fight for that last playoff spot between Bain, Titans, and the Badgers.

Bain and Titans are going head to head next week, the winner taking over the 4th playoff spot for now, but this might also be a game where earing "tie-breaker" points could be beneficial. As it stands now, the Titans have the first tie-breaker (head to head wins) with a win in their only head to head game so far this season. They also hold the second tie-breaker (run differencial head to head) with a 15-14 win. The final tie breaker (run differential across league) belongs to Bain by a wide 34 run margin.

Badgers, currently in 6th place can still make it to the playoffs by winning their last two games and possibly a little help from Toronto Life. Since their competition for 4th playoff spot, bain and Titans are playing head to head, one team will move to 5 wins, while the other remains at 4 wins. If both Bain (vs T.O. Life) and Titans (vs Badgers) lose their last game, then the Badgers are in good shape for a tie-breaker show down for the 4th playoff spot (Titans have played one more game than the Badgers, so the Badgers would have a better percentage, and Badgers beat bain in head to head wins.)

Good luck everyone.

Just in case there were any questions concerning the board standing vs our official standings - The only difference at ths point is that Titans are 5th and Badgers are 6th according to the official calculation of the team standings.)

Toronto Life----8-------0--------10-----------0.80
Remnants--------7-------0--------9------------0.78

Bain------------3-------0--------9------------0.33
Titans----------3-------0--------10-----------0.30
Badgers---------3-------0--------10-----------0.30

Note: Tie breakers have to be used for the tie between Titans and Badgers.

1st tie breaker: Head to head wins (2 games played, both winning 1 game.)
2nd tie breaker: Run differencial between games played by tied teams: Titans = +1 Badgers -1

Just so everyone knows, our official formula for calculating standing is as follows - (Wins + (Ties/2) / Games played)

The formula that this board uses (unofficial) is based on 2 points for wins and 1 point for ties.

These two methods of calculations do not always result in the same standings, although in this case, as of Friday July 16th 2010, the official standings do match the unofficial standings:

OFFICIAL STANDINGS
-----------------------------------------------------------

Team ----------Wins----ties----Played-----Standing Average
Toronto Life----7-------0--------9------------0.78
Remnants--------6-------0--------8------------0.75
Opera-----------5-------0--------9------------0.56
Bain------------3-------0--------8------------0.38
Titans----------3-------0--------9------------0.33
Badgers---------2-------0--------9------------0.22
